CSI: Miami is getting the docuseries treatment.
CBS has ordered an unscripted series based on its iconic crime drama – The Real CSI: Miami.
It comes from CSI creator Anthony Zuiker, Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced the franchise and Nailed It! and Top Chef producer Magical Elves.
The series will feature real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach recently teased that there was another CSI project in development. She said that the CBS brand was “part of its legacy as a company”. “I definitely think that franchise is alive and well will continue to be in discussions we have,” she said. “I think that ultimately we’ll find different and interesting ways to bring the show back.”
CBS CEO George Cheeks added at a recent CBS press conference, “In addition to CSI being such a global hit and all the iterations, the two of the strongest channels on Pluto TV [are] our CSI channels. That franchise is very much alive and vibrant and you could imagine it coming back in many different ways.”
It will premiere on Wednesday June 26 as part of its summer schedule.
CSI Miami ran for ten seasons and 232 episodes between 2002 and 2012 and starred David Caruso as Lieutenant Horatio Caine.
The Real CSI: Miami is the latest iteration of the CSI universe, which began with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2000 and was followed by four spinoff series, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, CSI: Cyber, and CSI: Vegas, the latter of which was just canceled.

Paramount+ previously turned long-running procedural FBI into a docuseries – FBI True – that ran for three seasons on the streamer and one season on CBS.
