Another BTS member has fallen prey to coronavirus!
K-pop star Kim Tae-hyung, popularly known by his stage name V, recently tested positive for COVID-19, making him the fifth BTS member afflicted by the virus in the last three months.
Hindustan Times shared the shocking news after Big Hit Music, BTS’ record label, released a statement detailing the 26-year-old singer’s health condition.
V Tests Positive For COVID-19 After Coming In Contact With Other BTS Members
MEGAThe South Korean boy band BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, consists of seven members, namely Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
These singers have dominated the music industry with their stunning looks, soulful voices, and overwhelming stage presence to an extent where ARMY, their fandom, included various ethnicities.
Given the band’s popularity, it wasn’t surprising to learn that their label prioritized the health of each member as Big Hit Music informed fans that V was receiving the best care.
In their statement issued on Tuesday, February 15, the record label stated that the “Butter” singer had visited the hospital after experiencing “a mild sore throat” and took a PCR test.
Later that night, the Daegu native was diagnosed with the virus. However, the South Korean heartthrob wasn’t in danger as Big Hit Music assured fans that their bias was safe. In their words:
“V completed two rounds of Covid-19 vaccinations and is not presenting any extraordinary symptoms other than a mild fever and sore throat.”
The statement added that the “DNA” artist would be receiving treatment at home while awaiting healthcare authorities’ instructions.
Although this was good news for V, it might not be the case for other BTS members as the record label revealed that the musician’s ailment occurred not long after coming in contact with the band.
According to Big Hit Music, the Bangtan Boys met on Saturday, February 12, but the “Fake Love” singers wore nose masks and avoided close contact.
Fortunately, none of the other members showed any symptoms at the moment, and they also received negative results from the preemptive self-tests.
The statement ended with the record label’s promise to ensure V recovery and protect their K-pop stars. In their words:
“The company places the artists’ health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid V in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the health care authorities.”
As aforementioned, V was the fifth BTS member to test positive for COVID-19 as RM, Jin, and Suga were diagnosed with the virus in December 2021, followed by Jimin in early January.
BTS’ Jimin Opened Up About His Recovery Following Appendicitis Surgery And COVID Diagnosis
Earlier this month, The Blast revealed that Jimin from BTS was on the road to recovery after experiencing a scary health dilemma on January 30.
The K-pop star was rushed to the hospital due to severe abdominal pains, later diagnosed as acute appendicitis.
The 26-year-old underwent an emergency operation to remove his appendix, but along the line, the Geumjeong District native contracted coronavirus at the hospital.
Shortly after his hospitalization, Big Hit Music revealed in a statement that the “Mic Drop” singer’s surgery was successful; however, Jimin wouldn’t be discharged anytime soon.
At the time, the South Korean star needed postoperative care and in-patient treatment for COVID-19, which made ARMY worried for their idol’s health.
However, the BTS member blew fans’ anxieties away with a sweet post detailing his recovery on Weverse, a Korean social media platform. The “Dynamite” artist wrote:
“Everyone, you must have worried a lot, right? I am recovering well! I’m sorry to have worried you. But I think I can be discharged soon! I am recovering well too, and I am eating all three meals a day.”
The entertainer concluded his touching message by imploring ARMY to wait for his return, which the 26-year-old stated would occur as soon as he recovered.
Naturally, this sweet post warmed the hearts of millions of people who flooded social media platforms with their love and well-wishes for the K-pop star.
Jimin’s health update came not long after V gave his bandmates a special shout-out on Weverse, in which he described BTS as his “beloved family.”
