Adele Felt Like A ‘Shell Of A Person’ Following Las Vegas Cancellation

Adele is opening up about her decision to cancel her Las Vegas residency.

Last November, Adele announced her Las Vegas residency called “Weekends With Adele.” This would’ve been her first-ever residency; however, ecstatic fans were met with the absolute worst news in January.

Adele canceled her Vegas residency at the last-minute leaving hundreds of fans from all over the world entirely devastated.

Back in January, the singer uploaded a nearly two-minute video where she looked somber and distraught.

She started her statement, saying, “Hi all! Listen I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID.”

The British singer revealed that half of her team was down with COVID, making it impossible to finish the show successfully. “I can’t give you what I have right now. And I’m gutted.”

Adele Issues Apology About Cancelled show

Adele apologized for the announcement coming last minute and was tearful as she noted she and her team had been up for about 30 hours trying to figure out, but they’ve run out of time.

The tearful Grammy-winner broke down as she told fans, “I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed, and I’m so sorry to anyone that has traveled again. I’m really, really sorry.”

Despite the backlash, devastated fans and rumors floating around that she canceled it due to diva behavior, Adele stands by her decision to cancel “Weekends With Adele.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs she said, “I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was frightened about letting them down, and I thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t, and I stand by that decision.”

She explained the backlash to the news was “brutal,” and she definitely felt some type of way about it.

Adele admitted she felt like a “shell of a person for a couple months” after the January announcement.

However, the backlash from fans wasn’t enough to make the British singer budge.

“You can’t buy me, you can’t buy me for nothing,” she said. “I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we’re going to lose loads of money. I’m like, ‘the show’s not good enough.’”

At the time of her January social media announcement, Adele assured fans that all hope wasn’t lost. She promised that the team was on the issue and had plans to reschedule all dates.

“I’m gonna finish my shadow and I’m gonna get it to where it’s supposed to be,” she declared.

No Plans Have Been Made To Makeup Shows

No plans have been made for the make-up shows.

Adele blatantly said, “I’m not gonna update you if I ain’t got nothing to update you with because that just leads to more disappointment.”

Her Vegas residency was set to take from January 21st through mid-April.
