Amber Heard Change.org Petition Nears 4.5 Million As ‘Aquaman 2’ Role Is Cut Down

Amber Heard’s screen time in “Aquaman 2” is in jeopardy.


The actress, who has been embroiled in a weeks-long court trial with Johnny Depp, claims her role in the sequel was cut down exponentially due to the defamation trial.


In the event you haven’t been able to keep up with the court case, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post.


In the op-ed, Heard claims that she is a domestic violence survivor.

Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was the “Aquaman” actress’ abuser.


Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars.


On Monday, May 16, while on the stand, Heard opened up about her acting career and how it’s been impacted by the court case.


She claims her role as Mera has been heavily reduced after fighting to stay in the movie.


“I fought really hard to stay in the movie… they didn’t want to include me in the film,” Heard said on the stand.

When asked if she was able to film her role for the upcoming sequel, Heard said she performed “a very pared-down version of that role.”


She claims to have been given the script followed by new versions in which scenes featuring Mera were cut out.

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it that depicted my character and another character — without giving any spoilers away — two characters fighting with one another,” Heard explained. ‘They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out.”


On Tuesday, May 17, Heard went as far as to say she may not even appear in the movie.


“I don’t know if I will even be in the final cut or how much I will be,” Heard said. “It was difficult to stay in the movie.”

Her movie claims come as a Change.org petition to have Heard removed from “Aquaman 2” is inching closer and closer to its goal of 4.5 million signatures.


The Blast previously reported on the petition when it surpassed four million signatures.


The petition, which is aimed at getting Heard fired from the movie, was created in 2020 by Jeanne Larson.


The Petition Needs Less Than 3 Million Signatures To Reach Its Goal


Larson created the petition when Depp was let go from the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise following Heard’s allegation that she’s a domestic abuse survivor.


As of the writing of this article, the “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2” petition had 4,217,073 signatures with a goal of 4,500,000 signatures.

The petition states,Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached. He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life. Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard.”


It continues, “Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
