Marvel dropped a surprise trailer for Avengers: Endgame this morning and fans weren’t prepared. In fact, a quick visit to Twitter right now means you’ll come across a lot of broken wrecks. There’s a lot of things Marvel lovers couldn’t handle about the preview, but right at the top of the list is all the foreshadowing that maybe, just maybe, Captain America isn’t going to make it out of this movie alive.
One scene, in particular, shows a muddy Steve Rogers buckling up his shield – missing since Captain America: Civil War – and getting ready to go into battle, with the fearless soldier grimacing for whatever comes next. One fan summed up what all of us were thinking after watching this clip, writing:
Yeah… Captain America gonna die #AvenegersEndgame

Some criticized Avengers: Infinity War for not featuring Cap enough, but his heavy presence in the trailers leave us thinking Endgame will belong to him. And that’s probably not a good thing.
Infinity War was the Iron Man and Thor movie, and Endgame seems to be the Captain America movie. Which is 10000000% unfair since he’s gonna 100000000000% die by the end pic.twitter.com/wdMLjyodT4

Another piece of evidence for Cap’s fate includes the repeated chant heard in the new trailer, with the various heroes decreeing they’ll do “whatever it takes” to save the universe. That’s not ominous at all, right?
