‘BTS’ star Jimin was rushed to a hospital after suffering extreme abdominal pains, reportedly from acute appendicitis.

The K-pop singer reportedly underwent “successful” emergency surgery to remove his appendix, but unfortunately was diagnosed with COVID-19 while in the hospital.

The band’s record label issues a statement on the scary incident, saying, “According to the medical staff, the surgery was successful and Jimin is currently recuperating after his procedure. He will be receiving a few days of in-patient treatment for COVID-19 in conjunction with postoperative care.”

Jimin is suffering from a mild sore throat, along with abdominal pains, but it’s unclear if he has any other symptoms.

The statement continued, “The company places the artists’ health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid Jimin in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities.”

Luckily, Jimin — real name Park Ji-min — did not have any contact with other BTS members during the time period doctors believed he was infectious. As you know, the band is currently taking a break, announcing in December the group would put a pause on performing for the first time since 2019.

“We would like to inform you that BTS is planning to take a second official extended period of rest since their first in 2019 after they complete their official scheduled events of ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE — LA’ and the ‘2021 Jingle Ball Tour,'” they said at the time.

As we reported, over the Holiday’s members Suga, RM, and Jin all tested positive for the Coronavirus, but have all since recovered. It should be noted, South Korea has kept the overall COVID-19 cases and deaths in the country relatively low due to aggressive contract tracing and testing. Unfortunately, the Omicron variant became dominant and sent cases skyrocketed worldwide.

At the time, according to the record label, RM exhibited no particular symptoms — while Jin showed mild symptoms including light fever, and underwent in-home treatment. Lastly, Suga also did not have any symptoms and was “administering self-care at home in accordance with the guidelines of the health authorities.”

BTS made huge headlines in the past few days after Jimmy Kimmel came under fire for making a joke about the band on his late-night show, which is being called Xenophobic.

In his monologue, Kimmel compared the Coronavirus variants to the boy band. He said, “These variants, all different variants in the world right now, it reminds me of the boy bands in the 90s and early 2000s.”

“You had the big ones like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, and then that mutated into O-Town and 98 Degrees. The JoBros popped up, Big Time Rush, they kept splitting off in different directions, eventually One Direction, and they took pieces, and it popped up all over the world until eventually, we get to one that’s so contagious it destroys all life on earth,” he continued.

The talk show host didn’t mention the South Korean band by name, but many said the comparison was obvious.

It appears Jimin will make a full recovery.
