Bruce Willis’ daughter Rumer posts throwback pics after his aphasia diagnosis

Rumer Willis is reflecting on happier times with her father, Bruce.

Hours after the 67-year-old legendary actor’s family revealed his aphasia diagnosis, his oldest child shared several throwback photos to her Instagram Story.

All eight pictures were captionless but filled with plenty of emotion.

The first showed a shirtless Bruce carrying his firstborn baby, now 33, decked out in a beautiful white dress.

The second featured the proud pop kissing her tiny forehead.

The third was a candid shot of Rumer as a toddler, sitting on her dad’s lap.

The fourth featured a slightly older Rumer in the “Pulp Fiction” star’s arms — both flashing intense stares for the camera.

The fifth showed Rumer as a youngster, using her hands to make a funny face, while the actor stood close by and carried one of her younger sisters.

The sixth captured a particularly tender moment between the father-daughter duo, as it was taken from the side and showed the actor in a baseball cap, again kissing his oldest’s forehead.

The seventh featured a pre-teen Rumer leaning in close to her dad — both mean-mugging in the shot.

The eighth looked as if it was taken at some sort of log cabin. The actor was sitting in a lawn chair, enjoying a cup of coffee, while Rumer stood next to him with her arms wrapped around his neck and her head rested on top of his.

Hours before she took her Instagram followers on a trip down memory lane, Rumer joined her mother, Demi Moore, her sisters, Scout and Tallulah, and Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming, in announcing the actor’s career-ending medical condition.

In general terms, aphasia affects a person’s cognitive functions, including their ability to speak, write and understand both verbal and written language. It typically occurs after a stroke or head injury, though Bruce’s family did not elaborate on what might have caused the condition.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters,” they began their joint statement, posted Wednesday morning. “As a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” the statement continued. “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”

“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that,” concluded the statement, which was signed by Heming, 43, Moore, 59, Rumer, Scout, 30, Tallulah, 28, and the two daughters Bruce shares with Heming: Mabel, 9, and Evelyn, 7.

Though his family did not specify when the “Die Hard” star received the diagnosis, there was buzz that he was having “cognitive problems” on productions dating back to 2020.

Sources told us he was using “earpieces” to have lines fed to him and “body doubles, not just for action [sequences], but for maximizing his screen time.”

“Everybody knew, the cast and crew,” insiders explained, adding that his family eventually “stepped in” and “moved in to take care of him.”
