Man (40s) in critical condition following serious road collision in Cork

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.


A man in his 40s is in critical condition following a serious road traffic collision that took place in Cork on Tuesday, 21 September.

The incident occurred on the R617 between Tower and Blarney at approximately 1pm on Tuesday when a motorcyclist and a truck collided.

The motorcyclist was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries. No other parties have been reported as injured.


Gardaí subsequently carried out a technical examination of the scene and the road has since reopened to traffic.


An appeal for witnesses has been issued. Gardaí are asking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly road users that may have camera footage.
