Earlier this week, multi-talented country singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer Chris Stapleton canceled his upcoming shows. He revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 and couldn’t put fans at risk of the virus.
On Tuesday, he wrote in an Instagram statement, “I want to sincerely thank everyone who has waited so long for these shows.” He then announced that he got infected ahead of his slated performances for this weekend. Also, he would have to put the All-American Road Show Tour on hold.

Chris Stapleton Rescheduled
He posted a picture of a typed-out note for fans on Instagram. It read, “To all my friends in Salt Lake City and Denver, I am very sorry to let you all know that I have tested positive for Covid and will be unable to perform this weekend’s shows.”
He then rescheduled the shows for July 1st to 3rd and asked fans to show up. “We hope you can join us then,” the statement continued. “Please contact your point of purchase if you cannot.” The original performances were scheduled for Friday night in West Valley City at the USANA Amphitheatre, then Saturday and Sunday at the Ball Arena in downtown Denver on Speer Boulevard.
In the statement, he also thanked fans for waiting long enough for the shows and noted how happy he was to see them at the rescheduled time. He said, “I want to sincerely thank everyone who has waited for so long for these shows. We are incredibly grateful for your patience, love and support, and can’t wait to see you next week.”
He Has Canceled Before
MEGAWhile he loves his fans, this wasn’t the first time Stapleton canceled an appearance due to health issues. In October 2021, he announced to fans that he’d be postponing three of his shows following “doctor’s orders.” Two of them were scheduled for Nashville and one for Cincinnati. He assured fans that he’d reschedule once his doctor gave the go-ahead.
On Twitter, he wrote, “To all my friends in Sioux Falls, I am sorry to let you know that I am unable to perform tonight’s show due to laryngitis.” He also insisted that it wasn’t his decision to make, and he hoped to get better. “I want you all to know this wasn’t a decision we made lightly. I was hoping that my voice would improve with time today, but it has only gotten worse.”
The stops for July include ones in Michigan, Ohio, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Alabama, and West Virginia.
His Fans Are Supportive
In his note to fans, he also apologized for canceling the shows. While some were upset, others expressed their love and wished him a quick recovery. “I am sorry that so many of you have been inconvenienced, and I’m truly thankful for your patience and understanding.”
He also expressed how much he loved singing and how sad he was for having to postpone. “Nothing is more personal to me than the experience of music,” he said, “I’m eternally grateful for the privilege of sharing in that journey with all of you night after night. Thank you for your continued support and I hope to see you all very soon.”
Chris Stapleton Won Best Country Album
Earlier in February, fans were thrilled to hear that he had added several other dates to his tour. He also added stops in Detroit, New Orleans, and Chicago to reach more fans. They expressed how excited they were to hear the country star sing songs from his Grammy-winning album on social media.
In April this year, Stapleton took home the Grammy Award for the best country album. The hit album “Starting Over” also won him two other Grammys for best solo country performance with “You Should Probably Leave” and best country song with “Cold.” Fans were proud of his success since he released the album amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
In 2021, he also won the Country Music Association award for country album of the year and the Academy of Country Music Awards award in the same category. Fans were very proud of his success.
