Nicole Scherzinger — lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls — has been hit with a hefty lawsuit by choreographer Robin Antin — the group’s founder — that was filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
According to the suit, the performer, 43, agreed to a reunion of the Aughts-era sexy girl group behind such hits as “Don’t Cha” and “Stickwitu.”
Scherzinger is alleged to have signed off on a reunion and “new Pussycat Dolls business venture” with Antin, agreeing to 49 percent of the deal under a short-form agreement referred to in the suit as a Memorandum of Understanding.
The suit says that Scherzinger “now refuses to participate in the tour” following the cancelation of the original dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has “demanded to renegotiate the terms” of her contract.
It goes on to allege that “The Masked Singer” judge now wants a hefty 75 percent stake along with final decision-making authority, and won’t participate unless her demands are met. Because tour dates can’t be confirmed due to the legal tussle, the touring company, Live Nation, is said to be demanding $600,000 that it funded the string of dates with originally.
Scherzinger is the most famous breakout star of the Pussycat Dolls, which Antin founded in 1995 as a burlesque act, though her foregrounding in the group — which admittedly was in large part due to her doing the lion’s share of singing for the Dolls — caused friction among the other members.
Reps for Scherzinger and Antin did not reply for comment.
