Larry Bass resigns from RTÉ board just one day after first board meeting

“In the interests of my business and that of RTÉ I decided to resign."


Producer Larry Bass has confirmed that he has tendered his resignation from the RTÉ Authority Board to Minister Martin on Friday 17 September.

It comes following his attendance at his first RTÉ board meeting on Thursday 16 September.

 It emerged following the first board meeting there was a "degree of discomfort" by a number of members on the Board with having an independent producer who is also a supplier to RTÉ. 


“In the interests of my business and that of RTÉ I decided to resign," Bass said on Monday.


"I have tendered my resignation to the Minister."


Chair of the RTÉ board, Moya Doherty, added that "he has furnished his resignation to Minister Catherine Martin".


"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Larry for his commitment, and for his ongoing significant contribution to the creative industries in Ireland, and to the independent production sector in particular," said Doherty.
