Drake Celebrates Negative COVID-19 Test With ‘Positive Outcome’ For Fans

Drake is out of the woods and ready to party!

The “Best I Ever Had” singer announced a new date for his reunion concert with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj following a recent COVID-19 diagnosis.

This new update comes after he was forced to postpone the show scheduled for earlier this week.

Days after informing his fans of his positive COVID-19 result, Drake shared another update. The “Seeing Green” collaborator posted a flier to his Instagram feed detailing the new date for his “October World Weekend” event.

The event, which is billed as the “Road to OVO Fest Tour,” will happen on Saturday, August 6, alongside former Young Money members Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. The father-of-one captioned the post with:

“Negative test…positive outcome…this was the only date available until the fall and because the family is so solid everybody is flying back in to make it happen for you all…SEE YOU SATURDAY…young moulaaa.”

Less than 24 hours after he shared the update, fans gave it over 450k likes. However, fans could only drop a few comments as the rapper had limited interaction there.

While some people vowed that they would be at the show, others were just glad to see the 35-year-old doing better.

These fans must have felt devastated after Drake took to his Instagram Story earlier this week to break the news of his COVID diagnosis.

The Blast shared that the “God’s Plan” rapper kicked his statement off with, “I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for Covid and the Young Money reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the SOONEST date possible.”

After promising to “keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked,” he encouraged his millions of followers and fans to “stay safe and healthy, and I love you all.”

The “Red Nose Day Actually” actor concluded by writing, “I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together, and the moment i test negative, I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid) [teardrop emoji].”

The concert, scheduled to happen on August 1, was a part of the “October World Weekend Festival” — a five-day music event happening in Drake’s Canadian hometown of Toronto. Drake first shared plans for the show on July 13, writing:

“OCTOBER WORLD WEEKEND [globe emoji]. I am currently working on bringing OVO FEST around the world in 2023 for the 10th Anniversary, but of course we wanted to turn the city up for the summer!!! More event announcements to come.”

The news was thrilling to fans waiting for a Young Money Reunion concert. While one fan gushed, “What we all been waiting for,” another promised, “Catch me front row.”

The “Hotline Bling” Hitmaker Unveiled “Kiki” From His Hit Song

On Wednesday, August 3, ET reported that Drake took a step back in time during his October World Weekend performance.

Not only did the Canadian entertainer reunite with his “first girlfriend,” Keshia Chanté, at the annual OVO Fest, but he also brought her onstage and introduced her set. Before bringing her onstage, Drake said:

“This next person coming to the stage, I used to get in my mom’s car and I used to drive all the way to the west for this one right here, you feel me? So I have to personally introduce her.”

He added, “this is my first girlfriend I ever had in my life,” causing the crowd to go wild when Chanté made her way to the stage and hugged the rapper.

The singer, who fans have suspected to be the “Kiki” Drake mentioned in his 2016 hit single, “In My Feelings,” gave fans an unforgettable performance of some of her biggest songs.

Chanté celebrated the nostalgic moment with a photo dump on Instagram. The 34-year-old also included a lengthy caption that began:

“Legendary Nights in Toronto. I’ve never seen the city come together like that!! It was everything. A dream only @champagnepapi could make true. The most heartfelt and meaningful introduction I’ve ever had. Aubs I love u for life.”

Chanté added that hearing the concertgoers sing along to the songs she dropped in her teenage years filled her with joy. The “Does He Love Me” singer finished the statement by showing her appreciation for those who stood by her.
