Daniel Radcliffe Reveals That He Is DONE Playing ‘Harry Potter’

Actor Daniel Radcliffe may have gotten his start as a Hogwarts student but he has long since graduated.

After new rumors started swirling that Radcliffe might be headed back to the “Harry Potter” franchise in “Harry Potter and the Lost Child,” Radcliffe was quick to shut those rumors down.

Daniel Radcliffe Is ‘Not Interested’ In Returning To Hogwarts… At Least Right Now

In an interview with The New York Times, Radcliffe was asked whether or not be interested in appearing in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” After the 20th anniversary “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” cast reunion back in January, director Chris Columbus brought up the idea of adapting the stage play into a feature film, which would include Radcliffe reprising his role as Harry Potter.

The hope is that Rupert Grint would reprise his role as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson would reprise his role as Emma Watson as well. There is no word if Tom Felton would be asked to make an appearance as Draco Malfoy.

However, it seems like a feature film would be unlikely to happen if they could not get Radcliffe on board, and Radcliffe seemed disinterested in returning to reprise his role as the titular character. When asked about returning to play Harry Potter in a “Cursed Child” movie, Radcliffe dismissed the idea by saying it’s “not something I’m really interested in doing right now.”

“I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life,” he continued before adding the expected, “I’m never going to say never” disclaimer. He brought up actors like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill who expressed doubt in returning to “Star Wars,” only to reprise their roles about three decades later.

“For me, it’s only been ten,” Radcliffe noted. Although he has no interest in returning to his “Harry Potter” roots, there is another role that fans are hoping Radcliffe takes up.

MEGAAs The Blast previously reported Comicbook.com asked “The Lost City” actor how he felt about being fancast as Wolverine.

Although Radcliffe joked about being much shorter than actor Hugh Jackman who originated the role, he did say that he was flattered to be considered by the role. He also shut down speculation that he had already been cast, claiming not to know anything about the rumors.

“So many times, people come to me like, ‘hey man, heard the Wolverine news, that’s pretty cool.’ No, I don’t know anything about it,” he said. “Like, I appreciate that somebody is clearly going like ‘Wolverine’s actually short in the comic books, you should get like a short guy to do it!’ But I don’t see myself, I don’t see them going from Hugh Jackman to me. But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel.”

Although there’s no word as to whether or not Radcliffe will be cast in the franchise, it is confirmed that Radcliffe will be playing Weird Al Yankovic in his upcoming Roku biopic “WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story.”

In late February, The Blast revealed that Radcliffe looked almost completely unrecognizable with a mustache and curly wig.

No release date has been announced for the film but Yankovic is “absolutely thrilled” to see Radcliffe playing him on the big screen!

“When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork,” he joked.

“I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule. And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film,” he continued. “I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

It seems like it’s almost impossible to separate Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter, but if there is any role that might show that he’s definitely moved on from Hogwarts, then this one might do the trick! There is currently no release date for the Roku exclusive biopic.
