Elvis impersonator Barry Darcy got golden buzzer from Louis Walsh after previously being left paralysed from the waist down

Elvis impersonator Barry Darcy was the star of the show this evening after sharing his story of determination.

The Wexford native managed to stir some emotion from Louis Walsh as he pressed the all-important golden buzzer which sent him straight through to the live finals of Ireland's Got Talent.

The 38-year-old had people in tears after he revealed that he was previously left unable to walk. This knocked his confidence and he relied on his wife and two boys for physical and emotional support.

"I had a herniated disc in my back it crushed the nerves into my legs.

"I went to get out of bed one day and fell onto the floor, I was paralysed from the waist down.

"They gave me a 50/50 chance of ever walking again," he said on the Virgin Media show.

Speaking about his family, he continued to say: "For us, we have a deeper love because we have gone through something very very hard."

His wife ran onto the stage as the father of two sons, who now lives in Castlemartyr in County Cork, was sent through to the next round tonight.

Tears streamed down his face as the whole studio was left full of emotion as Louis joined him on stage.

"He got to me when he started singing. I loved everything about it, you deserve," said judge Louis Walsh.

Jason Byrne said: "That was perfect. Louis Walsh has a really good contender there now. Well done Louis"

"This was proof that you do anything that you set your mind to, and you just did it.
