Yep, the MCU audience is about to get a lesson on the birds and the bees...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a lot of things, but one thing it isn't... is sexual.

Sure, it is filled with some of the most beautiful people in the world, in well-fitting costumes, and everyone looks great. Sometimes there is a romance, sometimes even a little kiss or two, but that is about as far as it has gotten.

With the arrival of Eternals, the next entry in the MCU, that is about to change: Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao is giving the world their first Marvel cinematic universe sex scene.

The movie stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, Barry Keoghan, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Don Lee and more, but to find out which two of these performers are involved in the scene, you'll need to watch the movie when it arrives in cinemas next month.

Zhao told Indiewire the following about the upcoming landmark moment for the MCU:

"From that moment to what you see on-screen there was definitely a lot of discussion about how to do it. But I think the desire to do something different is a very natural desire for where Marvel Studios is right now. I think it’s like Westerns coming into the revisionist period of the ‘70s. I think it’s happening to superhero films - or at least we’re on the edge of that. And so these scenes just started to happen naturally.

"For us to be able to show two people who love each other, not just emotionally and intellectually but also physically, and to have a sex scene that will be seen by a lot of people that shows their love and compassion and gentleness - I think it’s a really beautiful thing."

Additionally, JOE took part in the global press conference for the movie over the weekend, where Angelina Jolie discussed how her own kids thought her character in the movie, Thena, had the most in common with her as a person:

"I was attracted to this project for many reasons. I am a fan of MCU. Was a big fan of Chloe's, and then when they first talked to me about the story, really, it was the cast. It was the idea of what this family would be. And I just wanted to be a part of this family before I even knew very much about who I was gonna play. But as I learned about Thena, and that's one of the special things that Chloe brings to this, is she's known for bringing reality to a film. To somebody's true self.

"So a lot of us were cast to bring out something from our own lives, something within ourselves, that maybe we weren't even aware of. And then let it live and let it grow within the film. So, she is maybe seems the most fantastic I've ever played in a superhero. And yet, my children said she thought it was the most like me."

Eternals arrives in Irish cinemas on Friday, 5 November.
