Gardai investigating 'baby found with serious head injuries' in Tipperary

Gardai have sealed off a house as they investigate how a little baby suffered serious head injuries.

The baby, who is understood to be one-year-old, was injured at a house in Tipperary on Thursday and was rushed to hospital, reports the Irish Daily Mirror .

The infant has now been rushed to a hospital in Dublin for further specialised medical treatment.

A source said: "Forensic specialists have sealed off the area at an area near the Horse and Jockey known as Knockanus - it is a short distance from Thurles.

"The forensic specialists are attempting to get an answer how the baby sustained the head injuries.

"At present it is being treated in the same way an investigation into a crime would be carried out but has not been officially declared.

"The gardai are leaving nothing to chance."
