Gina Gershon jokes about ‘countless’ women proposing to her after ‘Bound’ film

Gina Gershon says she’s had a lot of sapphic interest since the movie “Bound” came out.

The actress, 60, joked that “countless” women have proposed to her since the neo-noir thriller was released in 1996.

“I’m always amazed at how different men are from women, as far as being a groupie,” she told Page Six exclusively at the American Heart Association’s Red Dress Collection Concert.

“I found that quite interesting. It’s all very flattering.”

Gershon told us, however, that although she’s met “many nice people,” she’s had to politely shut them down.

“No one should throw themselves at anyone if you don’t know them, that’s just wrong!” she advised. “I felt like I was lecturing them, ‘You shouldn’t do that!’”

In the film, Gershon portrays an ex-con named Corky who embarks on a clandestine affair with Violet (Jennifer Tilly) as they plot to steal money from the latter’s mafioso boyfriend, Caesar (Joe Pantoliano). The movie has become a beloved lesbian flick.

Gershon has also received plenty of male attention, notably for her role in the camp classic “Showgirls,” which was initially mauled by critics and was a box-office dud.

“I think what’s interesting about ‘Showgirls’ – and it’s a good lesson – [is that] people just wanted to kill it. They wanted to speak so badly of it, especially the press, and now they cannot interview me without asking about it,” she explained.

“So it just goes to show, no offense to you guys, you can’t really take the press and journalism too seriously when it comes to that.”

Gershon noted that she was “very aware” of what was happening with “Showgirls” at the time, however.

“So I made sure I went right into a movie that was coming out around the same time, and that movie was ‘Bound,’” she recalled. “My agents were appalled, ‘Why are you doing this movie?’ I said, ‘Trust me I need to show that I’m actually an actress,’ even though I felt very secure in my work.”

She continued, “I did the best I could in ‘Showgirls’ but I also couldn’t control what it was. I always thought it was kind of funny but everyone took it so seriously, which I thought was a big problem.”

At the fashion event where we caught up with Gershon, the actress also told us she is trying to remain active. The star-studded night aimed to bring awareness to the importance of women’s heart health.

“If I don’t move around I just feel horrible. And I see as you get older, it becomes more and more important to stretch and be active, just to keep things moving,” she said. “And I’m trying to eat healthier these days, not living on chocolate pudding and chocolate chip cookies.”

The “Riverdale” actress sheepishly admitted that those snacks used to be a big part of her diet, adding, “So that’s a big step up for me. I’m trying to cut down on the sugar!”
