Cate Blanchett Says Her Children Are Totally Disinterested In Her Fame

Although Cate Blanchett is famously known as the Elvish Queen from “The Lord Of The Rings” movie, she is also a bada-s mom to her four kids.

After getting wed to her husband, Andrew Upton, in 1997, they proceeded to raise three sons; 14-year-old Ignatius, 18-year-old Roman, 20-year-old Dashell, and one adopted daughter– 7-year-old Edith.

Although she bags awards and stars in blockbuster movies, Blanchett always makes time for her children and tries to instill pertinent virtues into them.

The two-time Oscar winner has mastered being a badass with four kids. This can be attested to by a recent interview where she mentioned that she was a working mother who identified as a feminist.

Although she is not known to speak about or make public appearances with her kids for the sake of their privacy, the “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” actress recently opened up about how her children felt disinterested and less impressed about her fame. ‘They Are Disinterested In The Best Healthiest Way’

While speaking to Page Six, she opened up about her children and their disinterest in her fame.

“They have no idea, no idea,” she said on the red carpet of the Lincoln’s Center Trudy Hall, where she picked up the organization’s 47th Chaplin award.

According to Blanchett, when she told her children that she would be staying in New York for a few days, no eyebrows were raised.

“I told them, ‘Oh I’m going to New York for 36 hours. I willl be back on Wednesday…’ One of them is getting an award at school, and they went, ‘Oh, OK, have a good time,'” Blanchett explained.

She also added that her children’s disinterest in her fame was the “best, healthiest way.”

However, regardless of her children’s appraisal, the “Don’t Look Up” star is regarded as one of the finest actresses of her generation.

She spoke to the same publication about her success and how she wouldn’t be slowing down any time soon.

“I was talking to somebody about the notion of arriving somewhere and how dangerous that can be when you think you’ve arrived. Without wanting to sound pretentious, I think it is about a process of constantly becoming, like there is a flow to it,” she concluded, per Page Six.

Cate Blanchett Ensures That Her Children Fact-Check When Getting News From The Media

In her cover story for Porter, the 52-year-old star claimed to talk to her children about social media. She also added that she was aware that so much “information comes through social media,” and she tries to teach her children the importance of fact-checking.

When her children learn something online, Blanchett asks them to “check for the sources” to know the “origin of the information.”

“I say to the children when they mention something, ‘Where did you read it? Who has [authenticated] that? You have to learn how to read an image and article. And if you’re going to share something, you had better make sure you have checked the sources,'”

She added that although they might roll their eyes, she knows she is doing the right thing by teaching them how to be responsible.

She spoke about her son, who was studying physics and philosophy. She added that as her children continue to grow up, she has felt responsible for shaping the world they would emerge into. “I don’t want to become a separated generation.”

She Feels ‘Deeply Honored’ To Have Won The Chaplin Award

In the years of her rise to fame, the actress has won two Oscar awards for her roles in “Blue Jasmine” and “The Aviator.”

When speaking about cinching the Oscar awards, she mentioned that it was simply “about timing” since they were “15 other people” who were equally deserving.

However, she was surprised to have won the Chaplin award, stating that “not being from this filmmaking culture, and being recognized by this filmmaking culture tonight at the Chaplin Awards” was such a “profound honor.”

Cate Blanchett Talks About Climate Change With Her Kids

In the same interview, she revealed that she spoke to her kids about climate change and other environmental topics addressed in her recent movie, “Don’t Look Up.”

“I am not giving up hope,” she says. “As I say to my kids [on climate change], if we are going out, how do we choose to go out? It is a terrible conversation to have with your 13-year-old, isn’t it? But anyway. We do laugh around the dinner table. That is what is good about Adam [McKay’s] film. You have to laugh.”
