Gisele Bündchen says going topless in Alexander McQueen show was ‘traumatizing’

Gisele Bündchen is reflecting on some of her most iconic runway and red carpet looks — including “one of the most traumatizing moments” of her career.

In an interview for British Vogue’s “Life in Looks” video series published Wednesday, the 41-year-old supermodel recalled strutting Alexander McQueen’s spring 1998 catwalk in a barely-there silver top that exposed her breasts.

“I didn’t have a fitting, so when I showed up at the show, I was like, ‘What am I wearing?'” Bündchen said.

“I was like, ‘Is it a T-shirt or something?’ No, it was this. So I started crying.”

The Brazilian beauty, who was only 18 at the time and “didn’t speak English,” also appeared topless with her torso painted white on the same runway.

“I was walking the whole time thinking, ‘I hope my dad doesn’t ever see this picture,'” she told British Vogue. “All I wanted to do was leave but, you know, it’s one of those things that makes you stronger.”

Bündchen previously opened up about the experience in her 2018 memoir, “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.”

“I had no idea what to do,” she wrote. “Mostly, I thought about how disappointed and embarrassed my parents would be. I tried to hold back my tears, but they just kept coming down, and the black feathers glued to my lashes began coming unstuck.”

Continued Bündchen, “I thought about leaving, about running away. There was no way in the world I was going out there without a top.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the supe looked back at her years as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, which included her modeling the “very, very heavy” $15 million, ruby-encrusted Fantasy Bra in 2000.

But by 2006, when she walked her final Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she was ready to cover up a bit.

“I always made sure that my back was covered because it just made me uncomfortable walking on a runway with my butt hanging out,” she said.
