Iowa Gun Shop Thanks Beto O’Rourke for Huge Spike in Sales: ‘We’ve Run Out Twice Now’

An Iowa gun shop is thanking 2020 presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke for a recent spike in sales.

Mr. Guns, a store and gun range located in Waterloo, told NBC affiliate KWWL in an interview aired Wednesday that the Texas Democrat’s pro-gun control advocacy is driving customers to the establishment in droves.

“We’d like to thank him for being our number one salesman of the month,” head instructor Stephen Foote told the outlet.

“The more political rhetoric about the second amendment, the more guns and ammunition we will sell, and especially the guns they’re targeting,” Foote added.

And when it comes to ammunition sales, Mr. Guns said: “We’ve run out twice now.”

In addition, the shop approximates they’ve seen a 35 percent increase in AR platform sales.

The boom in business echoes Mr. Guns’ experience leading up to the 2016 general election when they sold ARs “as fast as we could put them on the shelves.”

Mr. Guns aren’t the only ones experiencing a Beto boon

Last week, a Phoenix gun shop reported running out of AR-15 rifles in less than four hours after offering a “Beto special” on the firearms, which were discounted at $349.99.

O’Rourke’s outspoken advocacy for gun control stance in the wake of an Aug. 3 mass shooting in El Paso, Texas has ruffled feathers among proponents of gun rights.

During Thursday night’s Democratic primary debate in Houston, O’Rourke responded to the moderator’s question about his stance on guns by saying he supported a ban on weapons “designed to kill on the battlefield.”

“Hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15s, your AK-47s, we are not going to allow them to be used against fellow Americans any more,” O’Rourke said.

Republican state representative Briscoe Cain tweeted out a response to O’Rourke later on in the night.

“My AR is ready for you Robert Francis,” Cain said in the tweet.

O’Rourke replied with a tweet of his own, characterizing Cain’s comments as a “death threat” and declaring that neither Cain nor “anyone else” should own an AR-15.

Many conservatives and proponents of the Second Amendment mocked O’Rourke after he recently said American gun owners will willingly handover their firearms under his promised mandatory buyback program.
