It has also been agreed that people can travel around the country from 18 December to 6 January and up to three households can mix together.

Restaurants and pubs which have kitchens and serve food are due to open next Friday, 4 December.

The time limit on dining is set to be removed from restaurants if the tables are more than two metres away from another table.

The public will be advised to wear masks in crowded outdoor areas over the Christmas period.
