Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet split: ‘We free each other’

“Aquaman” star Jason Momoa and “The Cosby Show” alum Lisa Bonet have split, Momoa revealed via Instagram Wednesday.

“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times,” the couple’s joint statement began. “A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.”

It continued, “And so We share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.

“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become.”

Concluding with a bit of free-verse poesy, the post concluded, “Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children. Teaching our Children What’s possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail.”

Momoa filled out the post with a few images, including — but not limited to — a crescent moon and a bird. There are few clues to the split in Momoa’s feed; his previous post hypes an axe apparently made by a motorcycle company, which may be the most Jason Momoa thing of all time. (Bonet’s was last updated nearly a year ago.)

The “Dune” star, 42, has said that he first fell in love with Bonet, 54, via her role on “The Cosby Show.” They started dating in 2005 and went on to welcome two kids together, tying the knot at a secret wedding in 2017.

“Ever since I was 8 years old — I saw her on TV and I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one,’” he joked to James Corden on “The Late Late Show” in November 2017. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna stalk you for the rest of my life and I’m gonna get you.’”

Explaining in the same interview that they met a jazz club through mutual friends and bonded over a shared love of Guinness, Momoa reiterated, “I just always wanted to meet her and she was the queen, always.”

The “Conan the Barbarian” star, who recently weathered a bout with COVID-19, secured one important co-sign for his relationship with Bonet. Her ex-husband, Lenny Kravitz — with whom she raised actress Zoë Kravitz, now 33 — explained in November 2020 that “Literally the moment we met, we were like, ‘Oh, yeah. I love this dude.’”
