Jenelle Evans Finally Obtains Full Custody Of Her Son, Jace

Former “Teen Mom” star Jenelle Evans has finally regained full custody of her son, Jace, after more than ten years of her mom, Barbara Evans, having all the rights over the child.

Evans said the latest development happened after she and her mother reached a compromise regarding Jace. The pair have been at loggerheads over the custody rights of Evans’ son.

Jenelle Evans Now Has Custody Rights Over Her Son

After more than ten years of her mother having complete control over her son, the former MTV personality has regained custody of her oldest son, Jace, 13, per Us Weekly.

“My mom and I decided together to grant full custody back to me because we want to build our relationship back as mother and daughter,” Evans said in a statement to the news outlet on Saturday, March 18th.

She added, “We have officially signed the papers on Thursday, March 16th, at the courthouse. It’s a done deal!”

Evans, 31, gave her mother the rights to the child shortly after giving birth to him in 2009 when she was just 17 years old. Since then, the two have been involved in a legal dispute regarding the boy.

Fans of the reality show saw Barbara complain over the years that Evans didn’t do enough to care for him, while she retorted, accusing her mother of not allowing her to parent him, according to Us Weekly.

Evans continued by saying that her mother decided to give her back custody of her son because she wanted him to grow up in a stable family and have a “father figure.”

The reality star who shares Jace with her ex, Andrew Lewis, will now have him live with her and her husband, David Eason, per Us Weekly.

“My mother agrees it’s time for Jace to be back with his siblings and living with a mother and father,” she divulged. “She also thinks it’s important for Jace to be around a father figure to learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.'”

Evans also mentioned that her mother is used to how Eason raises her other children and that she is comfortable with it, saying that she “knows we’re able to handle it.”

Jenelle Evans & David Eason Previously Lost Custody Of Their Kids

The “Teen Mom 2” alum and her husband previously lost custody of all her three children in 2019, when Eason shot and killed their pet after he allegedly bit their daughter, Ensley.

According to Radar Online, the presiding judge at the time told her that she “failed to protect the children while they were in her care.”

Her manager said, “At this time, we are cooperating with the judge and legal team from the court. We have no comment at this time and we appreciate the concerns regarding our client and her children. We will continue to cooperate with the court and their decisions.”

Two months after a judge initially decreed that Evans and Eason forfeited custody of the children, they were granted back custody.

“I am ecstatic to regain custody of my kids,” she told the publication at the time. “Throughout this long process and final decision, I am excited to be moving forward and continuing to show America I’m a good parent.”

Evans criticized several other unnamed people on Facebook and expressed her displeasure with her former employer.

She wrote, “Can’t stand fake people! You don’t want to hang out but you want to copy my life, copy pictures I take, copy my OF statuses immediately, and now that I go to the gym you suddenly are starting.”

“Spy on me from afar but copy my every move. Fake b***h. Def blocked and staying blocked,” she added.

She then turned her attention to her former employer, MTV.

“I don’t think I’ll ever have one true friend, and I know people offer, but I don’t know who to trust anymore,” she said. “Teen Mom/MTV has f**ked up every type of friendship I want to have.”
