‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Amy Schneider Scores GLAAD Media Award Nomination!

‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Amy Schneider Scores GLAAD Media Award Nomination!

Current “Jeopardy!” champion Amy Schneider has another reason to celebrate her historic “Jeopardy!” run.

Amy first made headlines when she became the first openly trans champion to qualify for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held later this year.

In December, she became the highest-earning female champion in “Jeopardy!” history and the woman with the longest winning streak.

After that, she became the fifth millionaire in “Jeopardy!” history and the fourth to do so during regular gameplay.

Last Friday, Amy surpassed James Holzhauer’s third-place record of 32 games to have the third-longest winning streak in “Jeopardy!” history. She is only a few days away from tying Yale Ph.D. student Matt Amodio and his win streak of 38 games, set back in September.

Amy has answered over 1,000 questions correctly on the show, but one question she never thought to ask is if she would ever win a GLAAD award her “Jeopardy!” run!

GLAAD recently announced the nominations for its 33rd Annual Media Awards. The GLAAD Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.”

HBO has picked up 19 nominations and Netflix has picked up 17 nominations, but it’s the Special Recognition category that really has “Jeopardy!” fans talking.

The nominees in the Special Recognition category are:

  • All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson [filmed reading + performance]
  • “Alok Vaid-Menon” 4D with Demi Lovato (Cadence13/OBB Sound/SB Projects)
  • CODED: The Hidden Love of J.C. Leyendecker (Paramount+)
  • Jeopardy! Champion Amy Schneider
  • The Laverne Cox Show (Shondaland Audio/iHeartMedia)
  • Life Out Loud with LZ Granderson (ABC News)
  • Outsports’ Coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics

With artists like Brandi Carlile, Demi Levato, Elton John, Halsey, and Lil Nas X also being nominated for a GLAAD award (in the music category, of course), Amy Schneider never dreamed that she might also be nominated for such a prestigious award!

Amy Schneider Is ‘Honored And Humbled’ To Be Nominated For GLAAD Award

On Twitter, Amy thanked the GLAAD Media Award for her nomination, adding that she was “honored and humbled” to be recognized with a nomination.

“Hi all!” she began. “So, yesterday’s and today’s game threads will get up at some point, but as you might imagine my life is pretty crazy right now! But I did want to take a moment to acknowledge how honored and humbled I am to have been recognized in this year’s @glaad Media Awards.”

“Of all the things that have come out of my Jeopardy run, I will always be most proud of any good that I’ve managed to do for the trans community, so this acknowledgment means more than I can ever say,” she added.
