During Thursday’s episode of “The View,” Joy Behar subtly referenced her departure from the show in 2013, seemingly throwing shade at the decision. As the hosts reflected on the legacy of the late Tina Turner, Behar took a moment to allude to her two-year hiatus.

“You know, there’s something about her,” Behar began, per The Sun. “I’ve been on this show for 26 years, right, with a small hiatus, as we all know — forced.” She paused briefly as laughter filled the studio.

The seasoned comedian went on to express her connection to Turner’s passing. “For some reason, this death has gotten me in my kishkas,” Behar confessed. “I don’t know what it is, something about her that she just got to me; I could start crying right now,” she concluded.

Behar was one of the hit ABC show’s original hosts alongside creator Barbara Walters, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Meredith Vieira.

In a candid interview with Time magazine in July 2022, the “Hall Pass” actress surprisingly expressed her contentment with being let go from the show in 2013. She revealed, “I was glad to be fired. I was sick of the show then; I don’t remember why.”

Behar’s absence from “The View” was relatively short-lived despite her departure. She made occasional guest appearances as a host in 2014 and 2015, maintaining a connection with the show and its audience.

In a surprising turn of events in 2015, ABC announced that Behar would permanently return to “The View” for its 19th season. Reflecting on her humorous nature, Behar said, “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.” She expressed her happiness at being back home on the show adding, “But I’m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics.”

In an episode aired on February 7, 2023, Joy Behar expressed her support for President Joe Biden’s potential reelection in 2024 while addressing any doubts about her capabilities due to her age.

During the discussion, Behar highlighted that she and President Biden are the same age while challenging any notion that age would hinder her ability to perform her job. “Can I just point out that Joe Biden and I are the same age?” she noted. “Would you say I couldn’t do my job for the next four years? Of course, I can!”

With confidence and a hint of defiance, the actress further addressed detractors by asserting, “The haters can go stick their heads in something because I’m not moving out of this seat.”

In April, Behar took a brief break from co-hosting “The View” due to health issues, as revealed by moderator Whoopi Goldberg. On the Tuesday broadcast, Goldberg addressed Behar’s absence, informing viewers that she was dealing with a “cold” and expressed hopes for her speedy recovery. Whoopi added that they “want to get her back here soon, but after the cold goes away.”

Although Behar often takes Mondays off, fans were surprised when the 80-year-old didn’t appear at the beginning of Tuesday’s episode, and Ana Navarro stepped in as a substitute. Viewers took to social media, expressing their shock and sending well wishes to Joy upon learning about her illness.
