Kelly Rizzo Will Have A Martini Tonight To Honor Bob Saget’s Birthday

Kelly Rizzo is paying tribute to the late Bob Saget on Tuesday. The Full House star should have been celebrating his birthday with his family. Unfortunately, he passed away in January 2022 from what police assume to be an accidental slip and fall.

The How I Met Your Mother narrator had been staying at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando, Florida when he died of a brain bleed caused by a blunt head injury. At this time, it is still unclear what he hit his head on to cause the fatal injury, but police ruled out foul play and a toxicology report proved that there was no alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of his death.

On May 17, Saget’s widow paid tribute to her late husband by posting throwback photos from their last vacation in Mexico that were taking exactly one year ago.

On Tuesday, Rizzo posted an Instagram carousel filled with pictures and videos of her late husband.

“Happy birthday my Love,” she began her lengthy caption. “These pictures and videos were taken exactly 1 year ago in Mexico. We always celebrated our birthdays together with a trip. (His is the 17th and mine is 19th).”

“This last trip was so special,” she continued. “We both celebrated each other so big. You never know when something is going to be ‘the last’ time. But I’m so grateful that he was showered with all of the love he deserves. I pray he can see all of the love he’s already getting from around the world today.”

“Honey, everyone loves you so d— much,” she went on. “Everyone wants you to know how important and special you are on your special day, and we ALL celebrate you. You are one of a kind and you certainly made my world go ‘round.”

“I love you more than anything and miss you every minute. Your girls and I will hold on tight to each other today,” she concluded. “And I know you’d want me to get a martini tonight, so I’ll oblige. Happy birthday, honey.”

Many fans wished Bob a happy birthday and expressed support for Rizzo in the comments. Rizzo had recently opened up about the grief of losing a spouse with Amanda Kloots, who lost her husband Nick Cordero to COVID-19 in 2020.

PEOPLE reported that Rizzo and Kloots participated in a panel discussion last week to talk about how their relationships have changed with their late husbands since they passed away.

“It’s like, he’s still my husband,” Rizzo told Kloots. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, he’s my former husband.’ It’s like … the relationship is different now. It’s just — it is what it is.”

She added that many of her loved ones who have passed on are “still there” in her heart and mind. “You’ll notice I still don’t say the D-word,” Rizzo noted. “I say, ‘the day everything happened.’”

As The Blast previously reported, Rizzo decided to move out of the home that they lived in together. Although she is now living in a new house, she still brought reminders of her late husband with her and displays them prominently throughout her new home.

“I mean, I still talk to him and I have his pictures everywhere,” she explained, adding that Saget’s three adult daughters recently stopped by for a visit.

“His girls came to stay with me for you know, the first time since I moved into the new house just this last week, and they walked in and I was like, ‘So it’s kind of like a museum to your dad, so don’t freak out but yes, he’s everywhere,’” she shared, adding, “And then they’ll catch me like talking to a picture every once in a while, and they’re like ‘Stepmommy Kelly, are you okay?’”

Rizzo said that her relationship with Saget’s daughters has been helpful to move past the grief.

“I know Bob would want me to be there for his girls,” she explained. “I’m not as focused on my own grief when I’m trying to help them or support them or be there for them. When I’m doing little things to try to make them happy, it kind of takes me out of my head. And I’m also at the same time being like, ‘Oh, this would make Bob so happy, just knowing that I’m trying to make them happy.’”
