Taylor Sheridan has tapped a fan favorite from his Yellowstone repertory to join the cast of Landman.
Sam Elliott (1883) has been added to the second season of the Billy Bob Thornton drama for Paramount+. Sadly, no information has been shared about his new role in the series about the Texas oil industry, though we trust he’ll drink something a lot stronger than Michelob Ultra.
Production on season 2 is currently underway in the Lone Star state.
Elliott won the Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Sheridan’s 1883, and received an Academy Award nomination and a National Board of Review Award for his performance in A Star Is Born. His other film credits include The Big Lebowski, Tombstone and The Contender. He’s repped by Berwick & Kovacik and Gersh.
Co-created by co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman ranked as a Top 10 SVOD Original Series – across all SVODs for Q4, alongside Paramount+’s Tulsa King and Lioness. It had 35 million global streaming viewers for the premiere episode and set new records for Paramount+.

Besides Thornton, Landman also stars Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore. It’s executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, co-creator Christian Wallace, Billy Bob Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay.
