Conversations about the movie biopic started as far back as 2020, but it suffered delays because of the pandemic. The movie will reportedly focus on the iconic singer, Elvis Presley‘s life and his rise to fame. It’ll be told through his manager, Col. Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks.
“Elvis” starred Austin Butler as the singer and was directed by renowned filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, famous for his awarded work on “The Great Gatsby.” In a press event, the director revealed that he directed the movie in a bid to delve into America in the 50s and 60s.
The movie trailer was just released and showed some particularly interesting scenes of the singer. It showed Elvis as a young boy who discovered music and how he handled fame. His time as a superstar wasn’t all rosy because he encountered several issues along the way. The trailer also showed a glimpse of his relationship with his wife, Pricilla Presley.

Warner Bros just released the movie trailer of the Elvis Presley biopic. The movie was directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Luhrmann and starred Butler as the music icon while Hanks was his manager.
“Elvis” will be released internationally from June 22 and in North America on June 24. The movie will spotlight the life and music of the King of Rock and Roll through the lenses of his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, played by Hanks.
According to Warner Bros, the film will “delve into their complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America.”
Col. Tom Parker Played By Tom Hanks, Will Narrate ‘Elvis’
MEGAThe trailer for the biopic was released hours ago and gave a peek of what to expect. It starts with a scene where Hanks as Tom Parker walked up to Elvis. The entire story is told from his point of view, so it’s Tom’s voice that started the narration. He said, “There are some who make me out to be the villain of this here story.”
The next scene showed Elvis as a young boy in a church dancing along with its members. Tom’s words heralded the scene, “Are you born with destiny? Or does it just come knocking at your door? At that moment, I watch that skinny boy transform into a superhero. He was my destiny.”
Elvis was then shown as a young man on stage giving his first performance and the crowd’s screaming reaction. Parker then approached Presley and offered to be his manager, to which Presley readily agreed.
‘Elvis’ Under Fire For His Dance Moves
MEGAHowever, with great success comes even greater problems. Elvis started getting famous at an alarming rate and got in trouble for how he performed and his unusual dance moves. The singer lamented, “Some people want to put me in jail, the way I was moving. I can’t move, I can’t sing.”
His wife was shown to be supportive of the singer and his controversial dance moves. In a scene, she said, “The way you sing is God-given, so there can’t be nothing wrong with it.”
The next couple of scenes showed Elvis’s time in the spotlight and everything that came with it. It also showed the singer’s struggle to retrace his gospel origins. He said, “I’m almost 40, and nobody’s going to remember me. I need to get back to who I really am. This could all be over in a flash.”
Luhrmann Shared A Teaser Of ‘Elvis’ In November
Luhrmann previously shared a teaser trailer of the movie on Twitter. The teaser showed a back shot of Butler as Elvis and some other pictures of the iconic singer in his performance attire backstage. The clip ended by showing the letters TCB and its release date.
The caption read, “Elvis Monday. Made a little something to let you good people know we are taking care of business on June 24, 2022.” For the past couple of Mondays, the director usually shared Elvis-related posts on his social media pages.
In a press event, Luhrmann talked about what drove him to make a movie about the iconic singer. He said, “I was an Elvis fan, but I don’t know that that fan-hood was in any way the reason I wanted to do Elvis. But the truth is that in this modern era, the life of Elvis couldn’t be a better canvas to explore America in the 50s and 60s. That’s what drew me in, that and a guy named Col. Tom Parker.”
