Man in his 50s dies following fatal road crash in Meath

The crash took place in the early hours of Friday morning.


Gardaí are investigating following a single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the M3 motorway in Dunshaughlin, Meath in the early hours of Friday morning, 17 September.

Shortly after 1am on Friday, Gardaí received a report that a car had veered off-road before colliding with a ditch between Junction 5 and Junction 6 southbound.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 50s, was fatally injured during the incident. His body was later removed from the scene.


As of Friday morning, the road is closed between Junction 5 and Junction 6 as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the vicinity.


Local diversions have been put in place.


Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to make contact, particularly road users who were travelling on the M3 between Navan and Dunbyone between 12.30am and 1.20am and who may have dash cam footage that could assist in the investigation.
