Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera has been found guilty of all 10 federal criminal counts against him.
Mexican drug kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán has been found guilty on all 10 counts at his drug trafficking trial at a federal court in New York on Tuesday.
Guzmán, who is 61-years-old, has yet to be sentenced but it has been reported that the verdict could mean life in jail.
According to the CNN, the Mexican was accused of being behind the all-powerful Sinaloa drug cartel, which prosecutors say was the biggest supplier of drugs to the United States.
US District Judge Brian Cogan confirmed the verdicts with each of the eight women and four men on the jury, telling them later their conduct on the panel made him "very proud to be an American."
The unanimous verdict that was reached on Tuesday came after a a trial that had been going on for just over 11 weeks.
He has been accused of employing hitmen to carry out "hundreds" of murders, assaults, kidnappings and acts of torture of various people over a number of years.
