EXCLUSIVE: Alexandra Loewy has been appointed President of Film at Miramax.
This comes a full circle moment for the veteran executive, who began her career working as an assistant in the indie studio’s New York office around two decades ago. Now based in Los Angeles, she’ll start on May 27, reporting to Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, who told Deadline, “Ali has a rare talent for spotting clutter-busting ideas and breakout filmmakers, pairing sharp creative instincts with real commercial firepower. She’s exactly the kind of leader we need to take Miramax’s legacy into its next chapter.”
Said Loewy, “I am excited to explore the endless possibilities at Miramax, not only mining its library, but continuing to champion new voices and storytellers by developing original films for a global audience. It’s a pivotal time at the studio and I look forward to building upon its legacy backing bold filmmakers with Jon and the team.”

Loewy most recently spent more than six years as President of Working Title Films, where she managed the Los Angeles office. During her time there, she brought in and served as executive producer of Coralie Fargeat’s Oscar-nominated phenomenon The Substance, as well as Nisha Ganatra’s The High Note, starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, for Focus Features. She also oversaw Sam Boyd’s Peacock pic Genie, written by Richard Curtis and starring Melissa McCarthy and Paapa Essediu.
Prior to Working Title, Loewy was Senior Vice President of Production & Development at di Bonaventura Pictures, where she oversaw production on Warner Bros’ hit shark pic The Meg, which grossed over $529 million worldwide and spawned a sequel, and brought in and developed Plane, the hit action thriller for Lionsgate starring Gerard Butler. Previously, she also served as Senior Vice President at Global Produce and held roles at Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher’s Red Wagon, where she discovered and set up Veronica Roth’s Divergent series as a manuscript, as well as Unique Features.
On the film side, Miramax is coming off of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the fourth installment in the hit rom-com franchise, which grossed $130 million internationally and went straight to Peacock in the U.S. Currently, the company is gearing up to make the sequel to hit action thriller The Beekeeper, with Jason Statham returning and Timo Tjahjanto directing. Other upcoming projects include Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman, starring Channing Tatum, which releases October 3; the next installment in the Scary Movie franchise, set to premiere next summer via Paramount; Frankie Shaw’s 4 Kids Walk into a Bank starring Liam Neeson; Colman Domingo’s directorial debut Scandalous!, starring Sydney Sweeney and David Jonsson; and a remake of Robert Rodriguez’s cult hit horror pic The Faculty from Companion‘s Drew Hancock.
Currently, Miramax is in production on Season 2 of Netflix’s hit Guy Ritchie series The Gentlemen, based on his prior film of the same name for the studio. The company also recently acquired the position of Glickman’s Panoramic in a couple of hit Netflix series: Zero Day with Robert De Niro and the Jenna Ortega-led Wednesday.
