Alec Baldwin Calls ‘Rust’ Completion ‘Nothing Less Than A Miracle’

Actor Alec Baldwin has finally finished filming the Western “Rust” and he is considering the accomplishment “nothing less than a miracle.”

Production on the Western film was halted in October 2021 when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was struck and killed by a bullet in a gun that the “30 Rock” actor had been holding. Director Joel Souza had also been hospitalized in the incident, but returned to finish the film along with most of the cast and crew.

The production moved from New Mexico to the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana and started filming in late April. By the end of May, production on the Western film had finished up, with Baldwin completing his own filming just a week earlier.

On Monday, the “Supercell” actor took to Instagram to share a photo of two of his costars posing together in their Western period attire for a final scene. “Last day of filming RUST in Montana. Sorry that I did not get to work with this living legend, the great @francesfisher. Patrick, I envy you,” he wrote in the caption, referring to costar Patrick Scott McDermott.

“It’s been a long and difficult road. But we reach the end of the trail today. Congratulations to Joel, Bianca, and the entire cast and crew,” he added, referring to Bianca Cline, who is best known for her work in “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.” Cline agreed to step in as the new cinematographer to finish production and is reportedly donating her salary to charity.

Baldwin finished off his caption, writing, “Nothing less than a miracle.” Patrick was one of the first to respond to the post, writing, “It’s been great. Miss you!” Other fans had a lot of thoughts about finishing the movie in Halyna Hutchins’ honor.
