American activist Shaun King is popularly known on social media for promoting social justice causes, including the Black Lives Matter movement.
Not only is he a civil rights activist, but he is also a writer, founder of the Courageous Church, and co-founder of Real Justice PAC.
However, since the world’s wealthiest man Elon Musk took over Twitter, King was not so taken with the acquisition and recently deleted his Twitter account.
Shaun King Makes Criticizing Remark On Elon Musk Before Exiting From Twitter
Instagram | Shaun KingKyle Kashuv recently took to Twitter to announce King’s exit from the outlet. Kashuv tweeted, “Shaun King just deleted his twitter account.”
Below the message, he posted a snap of the author’s Twitter page showing it had been removed. Thousands reacted to the tweet, indicating they were not too bothered as they believed it was for the best.
Some also recalled King’s previous statements about Musk’s public intention to purchase Twitter, where he showed he was not a fan of the billionaire’s plan.
As Fox News narrated, the 42-year-old complained that the Tesla CEO’s purchase of the social media channel was “about white power.”
In his words, “At its root, @ElonMusk wanting to purchase Twitter is not about left vs. right, it’s about white power.”
He added, “The man was raised in Apartheid by a white nationalist. He’s upset that Twitter won’t allow white nationalists to target/harass people. That’s his definition of free speech.”
A few hours following his statement, his account disappeared from the platform, and users who go to his page @shaunking would see the message “This account doesn’t exist.”
Musk believes free speech is the foundation of a “functioning democracy,” as he stated so in his public declaration after the Twitter board accepted his offer to buy the company for $44 billion.

The statement began, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
He continued, “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.”
The message further showed that Musk believed the social media channel had “tremendous potential,” and he looked forward to working with the company as well as its users to unravel its capacity.
The SpaceX founder did not leave critics like King out as he dished, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter because that is what free speech means.”
Musk seemed to have had the former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on his side as Dorsey declared that he believed the business magnate was the “singular solution” he trusted to solve the problem of Twitter being a company.
Jameela Jamil Disapproves Of the Neuralink Co-creator’s Twitter Purchase, Plans To Leave
King seems not to be the only one who decided to leave Twitter, but famous actress Jameela Jamil has also called it quits on the social media platform.
MEGAAs The Blast reported, Jamil has always been one of Musk’s worst critics, and she recently took to Twitter to disapprove of his “free speech bid.” She wrote:
“Ah he got twitter. I would like this to be my what lies here as my last tweet. Just really *any* excuse to show pics of Barold.”
The “Good Place” actress added, “I fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny. Best of luck. [red heart emoji].”
She did not end there but further stated that the only good thing about Musk purchasing Twitter was that she would leave and “stop being a menace to society.”
The Boring Company founder seemed to have had the people’s best interest when he purchased Twitter, as he previously explained the reason behind his acquisition of the company.
The Blast recently reported that he stated that the social media network had become the “de facto town square.”
He also believed it was important for people to have the “reality and the perception” that they can speak freely under the law.
The entrepreneur further noted that his latest takeover was not a way for him to make money as he was not bothered about its economics.
Musk was only intensely aware of the importance of having a “maximally trusted and broadly inclusive” public platform for the future of society.
