Nicole attached a list of witnesses who may be called during the trial to defend her putative spouse claims in the legal filing. A putative spouse is a person who unknowingly enters into an invalid marriage, believing in good faith that it is a valid marriage.

The list only had two names, excluding Nicole's, but she reserved the right to add or delete witnesses. She named Warren and Cynthia Boyd, who appeared to be her family members, as her support corner.

According to the documents, Warren and Cynthia were named as witnesses because of their relationship with the former couple. They were also considered for their involvement in Nicole and Bam's wedding and their perceptions of the duo's relationship over the years.

Nicole added herself as a witness because no one could tell her side of the story better than she could. She pleaded her case as a putative spouse in separate documents, stressing that she always considered her marriage legal.

Inside Nicole Boyd's Putative Spouse Claim

According to Nicole, she was unaware that her marriage was invalid for several reasons, the most significant of which was her poor educational background. She explained that she attended but did not graduate high school.

Nicole was a "C" student in school and didn't learn much about the world after leaving it. She stressed that she worked at "several low-level, minimum-wage jobs," including a tanning salon, an auto repair shop, and an apothecary; she also cleaned houses before meeting Bam.

Considering her background, Nicole implied that she believed her relationship with Bam was legit, given their history. The pair dated for nearly two years before the former skateboarder popped the big question in September 2013.

Nicole Claims She Was Unaware Of The Requirements For An Official Wedding

In her recollection of events, Nicole noted that she was unaware of any requirements for an official wedding in Iceland. She was also unaware of any requirements for an official wedding in Pennsylvania and California.

These locations were significant to the former couple's relationship, as Bam proposed to Nicole in Reykjavik, Iceland. Before his proposal, the pair lived in his home in suburban West Chester, Pennsylvania, while their ongoing separation occurred in California.

Nicole blamed Bam for failing to make their wedding legal, stressing that he took control of their marital arrangements with his parents — Phil and April Margera. He also allegedly told her: "The only thing you need to do is to get a wedding dress."

According to Nicole, the former couple's wedding was conducted by Bam's close friend, who claimed he was a certified pastor and could officiate weddings.

Therefore, she believed their marriage was official, mainly because the duo referred to each other as husband and wife.

However, Nicole first heard the claim that she and Bam weren't "officially married" in the Fall of 2021. During an alleged phone call with her ex's mother, April claimed she wouldn't get any money from Bam since they were "never married."

After that, Nicole claimed Bam started using the "we're not even married" threat throughout his various stays in residential treatment centers whenever he wanted to hurt her feelings.

Yet, Bam allegedly sent her a hand-written note in which he assured her he was her "husband."

Bam Margera Denied He Was Legally Married To Nicole

Days earlier, The Blast reported that Bam filed a motion to dismiss Nicole's legal separation request. He argued that the pair have "never been married, legally or otherwise," writing:

"To my knowledge, Boyd has never legally changed her name in any state to 'Nicole Margera.' Every driver's license or another form of identification I have seen Boyd possess bears the name 'Nicole Boyd.'"

Bam claimed the pair had experienced a "turbulent and unstable" relationship over their ten years together. Their differences allegedly led to several breakups that saw Nicole moving back to her family's place in California.

The former skateboarder also claimed that Nicole understood they weren't legally married and accused her of moving to California with their son so that she could use the putative marriage laws there to her advantage.
