Chris Cuomo: ‘I’m Not An Advisor. I’m A Brother’, CNN Suspends Indefinitely

CNN TV journalist Chris Cuomo has been suspended indefinitely.

The decision came after the recent release of documents that showed that Chris, 51, had helped his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, 63, with the sexual misconduct allegations levied against him.

A CNN spokesperson declared that “The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense. The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions.”

They added, “When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second.”

“However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew,” the spokesperson continued. “As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

What Were The Allegations Against Andrew Cuomo?

In December 2020, Andrew Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women covering a range of sexually inappropriate conduct. Cuomo has denied all of the allegations against him; however, he did apologize if any of his comments were interpreted in a sexual manner.

On February 28, 2021, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that she was beginning an independent investigation into the allegations. On March 11, the New York State Assembly began with impeachment proceedings.

In August, the report concluded that Cuomo had sexually harassed eleven women during his time in office. These actions included unwanted groping, kissing, and sexual comments. Both of New York’s State Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, along with one-hundred-and-twenty New York legislators called for Cuomo to resign.

Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and even President Joe Biden called on Cuomo to resign after the report was released. On August 10, Cuomo announced that he would step down and resign from office effective August 24, 2021.

According to CBS News, Chris knew more about the allegations than he had let on. The new documents reveal that Andrew might have coached his older brother on how to respond to the sexual misconduct allegations.

After he resigned in August, Chris Cuomo said, “I’m not an advisor. I’m a brother. I wasn’t in control of anything. I was there to listen and offer my take.”

However, new text messages reveal that he was in touch with Andrew’s top aide Melissa DeRosa. In one text message, he writes, “Please let me help with the prep.”

In another text message, he says that he will use his “sources” to find information about possible new accusers coming forward against his brother.

CNN said they will provide more information within the next few days. This is a developing story and we will keep you updated with new developments as they occur.
