Country music singer Jake Flint died just hours after marrying his wife Brenda over the weekend, his publicist announced. He was 37.
Clif Doyal told The Oklahoman that the “Hard Livin'” crooner passed away in his sleep shortly after he and Brenda said exchanged vows. No cause of death has been announced.
“Jake Flint was an Ambassador of the Oklahoma Red Dirt music scene. He was a prolific songwriter, recording artist, and in-demand live performer throughout the Midwest and Southwestern U.S. As a testament to his kindness and humanity, he was also a tireless supporter of his fellow artists, always willing to lend a hand to help anyone who needed it,” Doyal’s statement read.
“With his infectious smile and disarming sense of humor, he was loved by many, and I believe that, along with his music, will be his lasting legacy.”
Brenda addressed her late husband’s passing in a statement posted to Instagram in which she mourned the memories the should’ve been enjoying.
“We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in,” his widow, Brenda, posted on Facebook.jakeflintmusic/Instagram“We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in,” she wrote.
“People aren’t meant to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I just really need him to come back. I can’t take much more. I need him here.”
Jake’s former manager and friend Brenda Cline also mourned the loss of the singer whom she considered to be “much like a son.”
“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” she wrote on Facebook early Monday.
“We were just about to embark on some business together after he and Brenda got married- which was yesterday. Yes-yesterday.”
