‘Dying For Sex’ Adds Rob Delaney, David Rasche & Esco Jouléy As Recurring

Rob Delaney (Catastrophe), David Rasche (Succession) and Esco Jouléy (State of the Union) have been cast in recurring roles in FX‘s limited series Dying for Sex, starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate. The series hails from writers Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock, Leslye Headland and 20th Television, where Meriwether, Rosenstock and Headland are under overall deals.

Based on the hit Wondery podcast, Dying for Sex is the story of Molly (Williams), a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of 15 years and begins to explore her sexuality. She gets the courage and support to go on this adventure from her best friend Nikki (Slate), who stays by her side all the way to the very end.

Delaney plays Neighbor Guy, Molly’s strangely magnetic neighbor. Rasche portrays Dr. Pankowitz, Molly’s old-school oncologist with no bedside manner and Jouléy is Sonya, a palliative care social worker fresh out of grad school, who encourages and gives much needed guidance to Molly.

Meriwether and Rosenstock serve as showrunners and executive producers. Headland initially was slated to direct, but remains an executive producer along with Meriwether’s longtime collaborator Katherine Pope, Nikki Boyer, host and co-creator of the Dying for Sex podcast, and Wondery’s Jen Sargent, Marshall Lewy, Aaron Hart and Hernan Lopez.

Delaney is best known as the co-creator and co-star of the BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated Channel 4 and Amazon Prime comedy Catastrophe, which ran for four seasons. On the film side, Delaney played the fan favorite character Peter W. in Deadpool 2 and will reprise the role in Deadpool 3, set for release this summer. Next he can be seen in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey opposite Vince Vaughn. Rasche most recently portrayed bigwig media executive Karl Muller on HBO’s multiple Emmy-winning Succession. His other TV credits include recurring roles on Veep and Bored to Death, as well as appearances on Miami Vice, Madame Secretary, among many others. His film work includes About My Father, Men In Black III, Flags Of Our Fathers, to name a few. Jouléy received rave reviews for their performance in Hansol Jung’s acclaimed Wolf Play as well as New York Theater Workshop’s production of Merry Me. Jouléy starred alongside Patricia Clarkson and Brendan Gleeson in Sundance series State of the Union. Other television credits include Starz’s Blindspotting, HBO’s High Maintenance, Netflix’s Inventing Anna and Hulu’s Monsterland.
