Gypsy Rose Blanchard Files Restraining Order, Claims She ‘Is Not At Fault’ For Failed Marriage

Gypsy Rose announced her separation from Ryan three months after being released from prison. Following their separation, claims have surfaced that Ryan was abusive and manipulative, but he seemingly shut down those claims in a recent social media post.

Regardless, Gypsy has filed a restraining order and is demanding long-term spousal support.

Last week, Gypsy Rose released a statement announcing her separation from Ryan Anderson:

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

"He got in her face and screamed," her friend told PEOPLE. "Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn't — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary."

According to docs, obtained by PEOPLE, the ex-convict filed a restraining order against her estranged husband. This comes just days after she filed for divorce on April 8. "The filing has been sent to the assigned Judge for review and to schedule any hearing dates if necessary," Annette M. Fontana, Lafourche Parish Clerk of the Court, said of the divorce.

In the restraining order, Gypsy requests Ryan pay interim and long-term spousal support because Blanchard is "in need and [the] defendant has [the] ability to pay, and she is not at fault for the dissolution of marriage," the docs state. She has also asked the court to deny her to pay him spousal support.

After Gypsy Rose was released from prison, her father spoke out about her prison wedding to Ryan Anderson, which occurred in July 2022.

“Personally, I give it a 50/50 chance that it's going to work,” he told PEOPLE a few months ago. “She can be spontaneous, and make a quick decision, and just jump into things without thinking."

"I wish she would have came home here, and when her being on parole was over, live with him, just live with him, learn him," he added. "She's grown, and she was told what to do all her life. We wish she wouldn't have, but like I told her, if it doesn't work out, I'll be there to help pick up the pieces. I really do hope it does work out. Ryan's a great guy. He loves her for all the right reasons."

Earlier this year, Ryan Anderson spoke to PEOPLE about his marriage to Gypsy, claiming they "have always been very open and honest with each other."

"Even honesty to a fault," he told the outlet. "Gypsy wants to be so honest that she'll say things that hurt my feelings and vice versa. But that's one of the things I think that makes us stronger is that we are willing to lay it all out on the table. But also, one thing I love about us is after an argument, it's done. We hold no resentment."

If you have not heard, rumors have been circulating the internet about what caused Ryan and Gypsy to separate. Some of Gypsy's close friends have accused Ryan of being verbally abusive, while others have accused him of guilt-tripping Gypsy.

Following these claims, Ryan shared a video on Instagram, telling his followers, "Ya'll will see what really happened on Lifetime."

He was referring to the upcoming docuseries, 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,' which will air in June.
