Jesse Tyler Ferguson says husband Justin Mikita is ‘useless in the kitchen’

Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a bone to pick with his husband.

The “Modern Family” star and culinary wiz thinks his spouse of eight years, Justin Mikita, is completely unhelpful in the kitchen.

“My husband doesn’t even do the dishes. He’s useless in the kitchen … nothing,” Ferguson groused to Page Six. (Mikita, who was standing nearby during the interview, verified his uselessness.)

Fortunately, the actor, 45, has loved to cook for most of his life — and even released his own cookbook, “Food Between Friends,” this year.

“I’ve been cooking for a long time, and I’ve always wanted to go to culinary school, but I was never able to because of ‘Modern Family,’ so I have a friend who’s a chef and we started cooking stuff together, and it naturally developed into a cookbook,” he explained.

One thing that Ferguson and Mikita, 36, do have in common is their love of theater.

The couple, who attended The Public Theater’s annual gala Monday night, are so thrilled that Broadway is back that they are co-producing a documentary called “Broadway Rising,” which follows the complex road to shows starting up again after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re really committed to being part of the reopening of Broadway,” Ferguson said. “We went to see ‘Pass Over’ on their opening night, and I got teary-eyed when the house lights dimmed.”

Ferguson, who got his start in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” will be back next spring to co-star in a revival of the play “Take Me Out” opposite Patrick J. Adams and Jesse Williams.

In the meantime, he and Mikita, who married in July 2013, are enjoying New York City with their 1-year-old son, Beckett, who recently started walking.

“He’s on his first trip to New York City with us right now, and he loves the city as much as we do,” Ferguson gushed about their tyke.
