Jewish comic Alex Edelman unsure if antisemitism has increased over the years

Stand-up comedian Alex Edelman cannot confidently say that antisemitism has increased — or decreased, for the matter — over the last few years.

“I don’t know, I’m not being coy, I just genuinely don’t know enough about antisemitism as a whole,” the comedian who grew up in an orthodox Jewish environment tells Page Six. “And every time I have a presupposition about it … I’ve been wrong about it so many times that I no longer conjecture, but I’ve read, really good books about antisemitism.

Alex Edelman in Edelman’s latest show is called “Just for Us.”

“So, I’m not quite sure what to think, but yeah, antisemitism is obviously a scourge and it occurs in all parts of our society,” he continues. “And, it’s a shame. Someone said to me, ‘Hey, your show’s such a timely show, a show about antisemitism’ and I was like, ‘Buddy, that show is gonna be timely for a long time.'”

Edelman, 33, can currently be seen in the one-man show “Just for Us” at the Greenwich House Theater. The show is produced by Mike Birbiglia and takes the audience through several anecdotes, including a story about Edelman’s Olympian brother A.J and the time his religious family celebrated Christmas.

At its center is an incredible tale of the Boston native covertly attending a gathering of white nationalists in Queens, N.Y. (Spoiler alert, it did not end well).

While work is currently a priority, Edelman is also sure to block out time with his girlfriend, “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder, who he often gushes about on social media, calling her “the best girlfriend who has ever lived” and “the best looking person in America.”
