Bruce Willis’s family recently shared some disheartening news concerning the actor’s health and future in Hollywood. A statement released on Wednesday revealed that the actor was recently diagnosed with aphasia, putting a halt to his acting career.

The post was flooded with several comments from friends, celebrities, and fans, supporting the actor and his family. Several of Willis’s co-stars left comments wishing the family well, and several others made independent posts celebrating the actor.


Lucy Liu is the latest celebrity to do so. Known for her appearance in several titles, the actress shared a throwback picture of Willis and two of his daughters with a touching caption. She starred alongside Willis in two movies in 2003 and 2006.

Several actors and fellow celebrities shared their condolences after Willis’s family announced his illness and retirement from acting. One of them was Liu, who shared a throwback picture of the actor a day after the announcement. The picture showed the actor with two of his daughters.


The Instagram post was captioned, “TBT In pure #BruceWillis ‘Live it up’ mode. Love you and your family in every way.” The actress acted in some movies with Willis, including “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” in 2003 and “Lucky Number Slevin” in 2006.


The 53-year-old tagged Willis’s family in the post, including his wife Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore, and daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis. The three daughters all commented on Liu’s post, Rumer and Moore, with heart emojis, while Scout wrote, “This is amazing!!!!”


Willis’ Family Announced His Illness And Retirement


In an Instagram post, the “Die Hard” actor’s family announced his illness and retirement from Hollywood. The Wednesday post shared that Willis was diagnosed with aphasia, which affected his cognitive abilities, leading to his retirement from acting.


The caption read, “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.”


It continued, “As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that meant so much to him.” The rest of the statement said that it was a really challenging time for the family. They were appreciative of every support and compassion they got. The actor’s entire family signed it, including his wife, ex-wife, and three daughters.

Other people who commented include actress and producer Rita Wilson who wrote, “My heart goes out to Bruce, and all of the family. So thankful you shared this with us. Keeping you all in our prayers.” Wilson acted alongside Willis in “Story of Us.”


Another co-star, Melanie Griffith, wrote, “Sending love and support, dearest Demi.” Several other celebrities and fans left comments sharing their support and love for the actor and his family.

Besides Liu, other celebrities and former co-stars posted about the actor and separately tweeted their support. Some of which are John Travolta, Haley Joel Osment, M. Night Shyamalan, and several others.


Shyamalan previously tweeted, “All my love and respect to my big brother Bruce Willis. I know his wonderful family is surrounding him with support and strength. He will always be that hero on that poster on my wall as a kid.” Shyamalan directed “Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable,” which Willis featured in.


Via People, a friend of the actor said, “Bruce is beloved, and everyone in Hollywood is very supportive of him and will rally around him. He’s one of the guys everyone loves in Hollywood — one of the most beloved movie stars. His family is rallying around him.”
