‘Made for Love’ star Ray Romano jokes he’s ‘protective’ of sex doll screen partner

Ray Romano jokes that he’s developed feelings for his synthetic “Made for Love” co-star.

In the HBO series, which follows the wife of a tech billionaire who’s implanted a tracking chip in her brain, Romano plays her father — a man who’s in a romantic relationship with a sex doll.

“Every once in a while my wife will say, ‘Oh did you have scenes with your blow-up doll?’ and I have to tell her, ‘It’s not a blow-up doll! It’s a synthetic partner, she weighs 80 pounds. It’s not this flimsy blow-up doll that you bring to a bachelor party,'” the comedian tells Page Six.

He jokes, “So, in a way, yes I am protective of her.”

“The Irishman” star confesses that he thought it would be difficult to act opposite the sex doll but has found it similar to working with humans.

“It’s funny because all the elements are the same,” he explains. “You have to get into character, you have to feel what the character’s feeling, and you’re just not having to wait for lines to come back at you.

“So as long as I can tap into the emotion that the character’s feeling … It seems to be working pretty good.”

Romano, meanwhile, kids that he hasn’t implanted anything but “money” into his wife’s brain.

Ray Romano in Romano confessed that it hasn’t been “hard” working opposite a plastic co-star.

“If I implanted a chip, I need to get in there and re-adjust it because why did I put it there to have her yelling at me?” he jokes about his wife Anna, with whom he married in 1987 and shares four grown children.

When Page Six asked for concrete examples, the “Everybody Loves Raymond” star was quick to respond.

“The other morning I woke up, I went into the bathroom, she was brushing her teeth and she hears me come in and she goes, ‘Another thing that pisses me off….’ she already started it off, she had it going already,” he recounts.

“Or we were having dinner with my son and his girlfriend,” he continues, “just us in our house and it’s going nice and I get a text and I look down and it’s from her, she’s sitting right across from me and it says two words, ‘chewing loud.’ I don’t know why I would put that in a chip!”

“Made for Love” Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, April 28, on HBO.
