Ashley Graham Puts The ‘M’ In Multitasking As She Breastfeeds Twin Sons At The Same Time

Model Ashley Graham has always been open about her motherhood experiences on social media, and now that she’s become a mother to twin boys, this still hasn’t changed.

She has continued posting tons of updates on her feed, regaling the changes that came with her first son, Isaac, down to her twin sons, Malachi and Roman, whom she recently gave birth to earlier this year.

In light of her motherhood experience, she recently shared a powerful picture of her tandem breastfeeding her twins, adding that she was tired but still here. Read on to learn more on her motherhood journey.

On Friday, the 34-year-old model simultaneously shared a picture of her breastfeeding her 5-month-old twins.

“Tired. but we’re here,” she captioned the picture, adding a white love emoji.

Graham, who welcomed her boys with husband Justin Ervin earlier in the year, has been open about her motherhood experiences and the changes she has experienced since the birth of her kids. She’s, however, mother to 2-year-old Isaac.

She shared last month that tandem feeding her boys took a lot of “trial/error and lots of tears to catch consistently.”

Graham continued, on Page Six, “I feel grateful that I had a lactation nurse, who was also my Doula, work with me and she was so calm, and kind and patient with me, and really helped me perfect it. It took me a good three weeks to really, really get there.”

She Birthed Her Twin Sons At Home

In her interview with Glamour, Graham disclosed that she had a home birth for her twin boys. She also shared that it was a traumatic birthing experience, adding that she almost died from a hemorrhage.

“The night I gave birth to the twins, I haemorrhaged. It was 2am when my contractions started. At 3:45am I went to the toilet thinking I needed the bathroom, and Malachi came out just as my Doula was arriving, in time to bring him into the world.”

She shared that she birthed her third child into the world three hours later.

“At first we were all celebrating, the next thing you know, I looked at my midwife and I said, ‘I don’t feel good. I think I need to lay down,’ and I blacked out,” Graham recalled. “All I can remember is feeling a light touch on my cheek, which I found out later was actually somebody smacking the crap out of my cheek, someone holding my hand, my husband Justin in my ear, praying and someone jabbing me with a needle in my arm. And I remember seeing darkness and what seemed like stars.”

When she eventually came around, Graham mentioned that she looked around the room, saw blood “literally everywhere,” and let out a “deep, visceral cry.”

Following the traumatic experience, the model was bed-bound for days, unable to walk, and confined to her apartment for months. However, she was thankful that her twins were safe. “It was a period of time filled with the joy of being with my husband and my three sons, the rhythm of our new life, learning and laughter, acceptance and recovery.”

She Had Previously Suffered A Miscarriage

According to People, the model shared that she suffered a miscarriage in February 2021. The model and her husband had just moved to New York from Nebraska, and then she “fell pregnant in January of 2021, on my husband’s birthday.”

She recalled, “Because it was my second pregnancy, I started to show early, and we were so excited. But at the end of February, I had a miscarriage. It was devastating; it felt like one of the biggest losses I had ever had in my life to date.”

She continued, sharing that the incident allowed her to empathize with women who had had miscarriages multiple times.

She concluded, “And yet the world expects us to move on and handle our grief with grace. I just remember breaking down more than a few times, just at random, and thinking, ‘How do women across the world do this? Because my story is no bigger than anyone else’s.'”

In her interview with People, she described her life as a mother of three as “loud, organized chaos,” but she had a lot of fun while at it.

“Even in the midst of the crying, and the poop, and the vomit and the engorged breasts, and the hair loss, and my ever-changing body, we’re all hanging out in the living room, and we look at each other, Justin and I. We’re like, ‘Oh my God, we have three amazing kids,’ and here we are, we’re laughing and dancing. It’s so much fun. I feel like my home is so full of love, and it’s because of my awesome kids and my great husband, truly.”
