Jamie Lee Curtis is an actress known for her roles in movies like “Freaky Friday,” the “Halloween” franchise, “Knives Out” and several others. The 63-year-old has won several awards, including two Golden Globes, a British Academy Film Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Curtis previously starred in “Trading Places,” where the actress did a topless scene. Her other risqué movie role was her performance in “True Lies.” The actress had to strip down to her underwear and dance in a scene.
A recent interview revealed that while the actress might not outright regret the movies, she had no intention of ever doing them again. Curtis said that she felt embarrassed while filming the topless scene in “Trading Places,” and the scene was the “last thing in the world [she] would do now.”
Curtis Was Embarrassed During ‘Trading Places’ Topless Scene
MEGAIn her recent interview with People, the actress revealed that there were some aspects of the role in “Trading Places” she would have liked to avoid. She starred as Ophelia, a prostitute who aided Louis Winthorpe, one of the lead characters. In one of her scenes as Ophelia, the actress appeared topless.
The 63-year-old admitted that she was embarrassed during the scene and that it wasn’t something she would ever do again. Curtis recalled, “I was 21 years old, and the part required Ophelia to take off her dress.”
“Did I like doing it? No. Did I feel embarrassed that I was doing it? Yes. Did I look OK? Yeah. Did I know what I was doing? Yeah. Did I like it? No. Was I doing it because it was the job? Yes,” she said. “I wouldn’t do it today; it’s the last thing in the world I would do now. I also am married for 37 years. I wasn’t married then. I’m a mother of children. Absolutely not.”
Curtis’s Performance In ‘True Lies’
MEGAOphelia isn’t Curtis’s only risqué role on tv; the actress played Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife in the 1994 movie “True Lies.” One scene, in particular, is famous for its raunchy nature due to the actress having to strip down and dance for her on-screen husband.
In an interview with People last year, the “Knives Out” actress talked about her time filming the movie and what led to the scene. She revealed that there wasn’t any prior rehearsal for the scene or even a choreographer.
She said, “Thousands of people — and you know, it gets really quiet during that sequence because it’s a little sexy. Then when [Helen] falls and then gets back up, oh my God. The place, it was a huge … because you’re anxious. Then the laugh, and it’s all [director James Cameron]. To his great credit, it’s all him. He knew, it’s a comedy. It’s a comedy.”
‘Trading Places’ Was The Fourth Highest-Grossing Movie In 1983
MEGACurtis’s character Ophelia starred alongside the main characters, Billy Ray Valentine and Louis Winthrope III. The characters were played by Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. Louis is a trader who specializes in rich commodities. In contrast, Billy played a street hustler experiencing a hard time.
The two characters were victims of a bet to find out just how each of them would react when their fortunes were exchanged. The comedy was considered a box office success upon its release. It was also the fourth highest-grossing movie in 1983, with over $90.4 million in just the U.S and Canada.
Curtis’s 78th Golden Globes Outfit
While Curtis doesn’t intend on appearing in any more topless roles, the actress showed that she still knew how to work a crowd with her looks. Last year, she appeared at the Golden Globe awards clad in a head-turning Alex Perry gown.
In an interview with Today, she joked about the outfit, saying, “You know, I’m 62 years old, and I’ve been wearing black leggings for a year. And so the truth of the matter is, I’m an actress, and I was privileged to be asked to present the Golden Globes, and I decided to suit up and show up.”
The actress also hinted that she didn’t plan to wear anything revealing for at least five years. “You know, once in a while, everybody needs to come out, get a little sunshine,” she said. “They are now well-fed. They are back in the stable. They don’t need to come out for another five years.”
