Lala Kent was left in tears as she recounted the scary moment she had to rush her daughter, Ocean, to the emergency room because she “couldn’t breathe.”
The reality TV star explained during Wednesday’s episode of her “Give Them Lala” podcast that, after putting her daughter to bed at around 7 p.m. last week, she heard her cry in a way that she knew “something’s wrong.”
“So I go in, and she is gasping for air like she cannot breathe,” Kent said of the 1-year-old.
However, she felt it was a “good sign” that Ocean was “screaming,” because she then knew she could at least get some air in her lungs.
“I was keeping an eye on her for what seemed like an hour which was really five minutes before I decided we’re going to the emergency room — like something’s off,” she added.
“I was watching her, I tried to lay down, I was steaming the shower, [and] while it was steaming, I put her on my chest, laid in the bed and just the way she was sounding, you could tell she was having trouble breathing. Now I’m not f–king around.”
The “Give Them Lala” author — along with her mom, who was in town — rushed Ocean to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
Kent explained that a nurse immediately took her daughter to be examined.Instagram/Lala Kent“They push her into a room immediately,” she said, adding that the ER was “filled to the brim,” so the doctors knew that Ocean “needs to be seen immediately.”
Ocean was diagnosed with croup, “an infection of the upper airway which obstructs breathing,” according to the Mayo Clinic. Kent noted that her daughter was prescribed a steroid “to release the airway” which immediately helped her.
The doctors diagnosed Ocean with Croup.Instagram/Lala Kent“When they’re infants, [it] is very very scary,” Kent said. “Luckily Ocean’s lungs are developed, so it is something that if you catch it quickly is very treatable.”
The “Vanderpump Rules” star, 32, then began to get emotional at having to relive how “horrified” she was that night.
“Even talking about it now,” Kent continued while her voice started to crack. “It was like, ‘Oh my God this is so scary.’ Like I asked the nurse, ‘Is my baby going to wake up tomorrow? Because I’m freaking out.'”
The Bravolebrity admitted that she was “in hysterics” the whole time, but she’s a new mom and had no idea “what the f–k is going on.”
“All I know is my baby woke up and was having a hard time breathing, I’m so sorry,” Kent said as she struggled to speak through her crying.
Thankfully, the family of three returned home later that night, and Ocean has been healthy since then. Kent added that because they had to stay home the rest of the weekend, she was bummed she missed out on Lisa Vanderpump’s grandson’s 1st birthday party on Sunday.
Kent welcomed her only child in March 2021 with Randall Emmett, 51. Page Six exclusively broke the news that Kent dumped Emmett after he was photographed walking with two women in Nashville last October.
