Sharna Burgess: I was on birth control when I got pregnant

Not exactly planned parenthood.

Sharna Burgess says she got pregnant with her and Brian Austin Green’s first child together while she was on birth control.

When a fan asked if the pregnancy was a surprise during an Instagram Q&A on Monday, Burgess replied, “Ahhhh yes. Yes it was. I was on birth control.”

The “Dancing With the Stars” pro, 36, added that she and Green, 48, were thinking of “trying” to conceive around mid to late 2022, but “the Universe made her own plan, found a window and went for it.”

“We are big believers in everything happening for a reason,” Burgess wrote. “There was definitely Divine timing with this one and we are excited about it, trusting in it. We knew it was on the cards for us, so why not now. :)” 

According to Planned Parenthood, the pill is about 91 percent effective, which means about nine out of 100 pill users get pregnant each year.

Burgess, who previously revealed that she is expecting a baby boy with Green, also shared that her due date is July 4.

The new baby will mark Green’s fifth child. He shares 19-year-old Kassius with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil, and has three more kids – Noah, 9, Bodhi, 8, and Journey, 5 – with ex-wife Megan Fox.

Green married Fox, 35, in 2010 and they separated in early 2020. The actor sparked dating rumors with Burgess just a few months later after they were photographed spending the holidays together.

Burgess shared in her Q&A on Monday that she does not compare herself to the “Transformers” star.

“Normally I wouldn’t answer these types of questions but I think many women struggle with comparing themselves to a partners [ex] or to other women in general,” she wrote.

“This notion that you ‘follow in the footsteps’ of your partners [ex] is dangerous. If you live by that idea then it will lead you to the same result. The relationship ending. You are a unique one of a kind woman, don’t follow in anyone’s footsteps, make your own path. Create the path YOU want.”

Fox has since moved on from Green and is engaged to musician Machine Gun Kelly.
