Why Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky never signed a prenup

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky never signed a prenup for one simple reason.

“My husband and I didn’t have two nickels to rub together when we got married, so a prenup was not an option or even talked about,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star explained on Andy Cohen’s “Then and Now” show back in 2017.

Additionally, the Bravolebrity said she would only entertain the idea of a prenup if she had more money than her partner.

“If I were to marry somebody who had less money than me, I would probably make them sign a prenup,” she stated.

“But if I were getting married to somebody with a lot of money, no I wouldn’t sign one.”

Richards’ past comments about prenuptial agreements have resurfaced amid her split from Umanksy after 27 years of marriage.

After months of breakup rumors, the couple confirmed in September that they have separated but are still working on their marriage.

“This is not my idea of my fairy tale, clearly,” she said on Sunday while wiping tears away from her face.

The reality star added that she “obviously” hopes she and Umansky, 53, can “fix everything” and “pull it together.”

While affair rumors have swirled, the estranged couple confirmed in July that there had been “no wrongdoing on anyone’s part.”

“Yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage,” they said in a joint statement.

“But we both love and respect each other tremendously.”

Richards has since shot down speculation that she’s dating country singer Morgan Wade, while Umansky and his “Dancing With the Stars” partner Emma Slater also refuted romance rumors after they were spotted holding hands.

Richards and Umansky tied the knot in January 1996 and share daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15.

Richards also has a 34-year-old daughter, Farrah Brittany, from her first marriage to Guraish Aldjufrie.
