It was a reunion in the making.
One of Norm Macdonald’s last appearances before his untimely death was on his YouTube show “Quarantined with Norm Macdonald,” featuring special guest Roseanne Barr.
The “Saturday Night Live” star and former “Roseanne” scriptwriter passed away on Tuesday at the age of 61 after a private battle with cancer.
Back in April 2020 — in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic — Macdonald hosted his eponymous vlog where he interviewed friends and celebs.
In his last video before he died, a white bearded, happy-looking Macdonald plopped himself on his couch and called up one of his old pals.
Macdonald got his big break writing for Barr’s hit ’90s sitcom from ’92 until ’93. The comedian spoke to his former boss via video chat at the time where they discussed the coronavirus pandemic.
“I think they’re just trying to get rid of all my generation,” Barr said during the show. “The boomer ladies that, you know, that inherited their, you know, are widows. They inherited the money so they got to go wherever the money is and figure out a way to get it from people.”
The standup comic’s last YouTube video was filmed in April 2020.YouTube“That would be a good thriller,” Macdonald replied. During quarantine, Barr, 68, was staying in Hawaii, where “we have one [coronavirus] case on the island” and 99 percent of the residents are sequestered and “doing what they are supposed to do.”
“Somebody was saying hey, you know, when people talk about the climate change and they go, oh, we can’t change our whole lifestyle. And the Earth is like, Yeah — here’s a virus,” Macdonald teased.
“Well, you know it’s all connected in my head because I’m on the autism spectrum,” Barr said. “So everything has to fit perfectly or else I go insane. So I’m always trying to put things together, but it’s all interrelated. I think we’re being forced to evolve.”
He responded, “We who have the luxury to be at home during this can never forget how valuable that is.”
“I know. Solitude,” the “She-Devil” actress said. “To be able to think about how you’re going to sue everyone on the f—ing — you know, Hollywood,”
“I was thinking of the virus getting to you, but that also,” Macdonald joked.
