At long last, the weekend is here. And for those who want to kick back on the sofa tonight with a good movie, we've got just the thing...

Here's the best films airing on TV this evening.

The World is Not Enough - ITV 4 - 9pm

In the third Bond flick to star Pierce Brosnan, 007 uncovers a nuclear plot while protecting an oil heiress (Sophie Marceau) from her former kidnapper, an international terrorist (Robert Carlyle) who can't feel pain.

Hercules - RTÉ Two - 9pm

Backed by a great cast of British thespians, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stars in this entertaining action-adventure fantasy.

The Predator - Film Four - 9pm

When a young boy (Jacob Tremblay) accidentally triggers the universe's most lethal hunters' return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled scientist can prevent the end of the human race.

The fourth entry in the popular franchise, The Predator is a tad chaotic and convoluted. That said, co-writer and director Shane Black (Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) brings plenty of humour to the movie and the ensemble cast of recognisable faces like Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane and Trevante Rhoades are a lot of fun.

Funny Cow - RTÉ One - 9.35pm

In this acclaimed comedy-drama, a comedian (Maxine Peake) uses her troubled past as material for her stand-up routine and tries to rise up through the comedy circuit by playing Northern England's working men's clubs.

Red Eye - Turner Classic Movies - 10.50pm

A woman (Rachel McAdams) is kidnapped by a stranger (Cillian Murphy) on a routine flight. Threatened by the potential murder of her father, she is pulled into a plot to assist her captor in a political assassination.

Directed by horror legend Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream), this taut thriller is boosted by a truly menacing performance from one of Ireland's best actors.

Jimmy's Hall - Virgin Media One - 11pm

From the director of The Wind That Shakes the Barley, this powerful Irish-set drama tells the story of James Gralton (Barry Ward), the only Irishman ever deported from independent Ireland.

Only You - BBC Two - 11.05pm

In this critically adored romantic drama, Josh O'Connor (The Crown) and Laia Costa (Devils) star as a romantic and a cynic, respectively, who start a passionate relationship.

Dog Soldiers - Film Four - 11.10pm

Last but not least is our pick for tonight which centres on a routine military exercise that turns into a nightmare in the Scotland wilderness when the soldiers are forced to defend themselves against a pack of werewolves.

Action-packed, fast-paced and featuring tons of laughs, this 2002 horror flick from Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) is widely considered in horror circles as being one of the best werewolf movies ever.

It also boasts a great cast of character actors including Sean Pertwee (Gotham), Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting) and our own Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones).
