Paramount revealed the latest series based on a video game: ARK: The Animated Series, based on the survival game ARK: Survival Evolved. The series has also launched on Paramount+, with the first six episodes — the first half of the season —available to stream exclusively on the platform in the U.S. and Canada. It rolls out globally on April 19, with the seven episodes comprising the second half of the season launching at an unspecified later date.

ARK: The Animated Series follows the adventures of a 21-century paleontologist who’s mysteriously resurrected on an island where dinosaurs and other beasties roam. She must survive (as I’m sure ARK players know) and ally with other humans to discover the truth of how she came to be there.

The series features a cast that includes Michelle Yeoh, Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, David Tennant, Jeffrey Wright, Elliot Page, Madeleine Madden and Vin Diesel. Crowe, Butler and Diesel also serve as executive producers.

The first trailer for the animated series dropped in early 2023. It’s supposedly going to expand the lore of the franchise ahead of the launch of Ark 2, which currently has a launch window of “late 2024.”
